Outer Hebrides Challenge:
Adventure & Offshore Experience 2027
For sailors seeking true offshore adventure along Scotland’s wild west coast
Embark: Friday, 26 June 2027, at 17:00 in Oban
Disembark: Tuesday, 6 July 2027, at 9:00 in Ullapool
Duration: 11 days
In June, the Hebrides offer some of the longest days of the year, with seemingly endless daylight that invites extended passages at sea. These long, light-filled days give us the freedom to sail further, explore more, and truly immerse ourselves in the rhythm of life on the water.
On this voyage along the wild west coast of the Outer Hebrides, we embrace that freedom fully. There will be days when we set sail early in the morning, making the most of calm conditions and favourable tides, and evenings when we only drop anchor as the soft glow of the sunset slowly fades. Sailing in these conditions is a special experience in itself: unhurried, expansive, and deeply connected to the natural world around us.
Set sail from Oban on this demanding voyage to the Outer Hebrides, with opportunities to explore the rugged west coast and the remote Monaich Isles. Covering challenging offshore passages, this voyage is ideal for sailors looking to build sea miles, gain offshore experience, and improve their navigation and sail-handling skills.
The route is flexible and depends on weather conditions, requiring adaptability, teamwork, and resilience. Along the way, you’ll encounter stunning landscapes, wildlife, and hidden anchorages, making this an unforgettable adventure.
Onboard, you’ll be an active part of the crew: taking the helm, handling sails, planning passages, navigating, and standing (night)watch, all under the guidance of an experienced skipper.
This voyage is perfect for sailors aiming to gain experience for RYA Coastal or Offshore certification, while enjoying the dramatic beauty of the Outer Hebrides.
