Day-to-Day Programme – Discover the Outer Hebrides

Day 1 – Ullapool: Embarkation & Set Sail
Step aboard Steady at 13:30 in Ullapool, moored at the marina next to the fishing quay. Meet your fellow travelers, settle in, and explore the ship. After a warm welcome, we set sail and begin our journey along Scotland’s rugged west coast to Lochinver. Enjoy the open water, keep an eye out for wildlife, and relax as we head toward the first anchorage. (~26 NM)

Day 2 – Stornoway & Lewis Coast
Arrive in Stornoway and tie up at the quay. Explore the town’s charming streets, visit local shops, or stroll along the waterfront. Immerse yourself in the culture of Lewis and enjoy the harbour views. (~38 NM)

Day 3 – To the Bird Paradise: The Shiant Islands
We set an early course for one of the highlights of the voyage: the Shiant Islands. After sailing approximately 20 nautical miles—keeping an eye out for dolphins, seabirds, and perhaps even a whale—we reach this remote archipelago in the middle of the Minch. The Shiants are a true bird paradise, home to thousands of puffins, guillemots, and gannets nesting on the steep cliffs. You can explore the islands via dinghy for a close-up wildlife experience. Overnight at anchor nearby. (~20 NM)

Day 4 – Duntulm, Skye: Castle Ruins and Coastal Views
Sail to the northern tip of Skye and anchor near Duntulm. Explore the ruins of Duntulm Castle, perched on cliffs overlooking the Minch and Outer Hebrides. Marvel at the panoramic coastal scenery, spot seabirds and seals, and enjoy the serene beauty of this historic site. (~13NM)

Day 5 – Loch Gairloch
Set sail south to Loch Gairloch, a sheltered bay surrounded by the impressive mountains of Wester Ross. Anchor in this scenic spot and enjoy a chance to stretch your legs ashore. Take a walk along the coastline, watch for seals in the bay, or simply relax on deck and soak in the tranquil surroundings. (~25 NM)

Day 6 – Sail to Ullapool
Depart Loch Gairloch and sail North toward Ullapool, navigating the open waters and keeping an eye out for marine wildlife. Enjoy a longer day at sea, perfect for hands-on sailing, spotting dolphins and seabirds, or relaxing on deck. Arrive in Ullapool in the evening and overnight in the marina. (~37 NM)

Day 7 – Farewell in Ullapool
After a final breakfast on board, disembark at 09:00. Depart with memories of incredible landscapes, abundant wildlife, and the thrill of sailing along Scotland’s wild west coast.
