Your Adventure, Day by Day

Day 1: Welcome Aboard & Sail to Tobermory
Your adventure begins in Oban on Friday, May 22, at 10:00. After a warm welcome aboard Steady, you’ll settle into your cabin and meet your fellow travelers. Once introductions are done, we’ll hoist the sails and chart a course for Tobermory, the vibrant harbor town on Mull.

As we sail, you’ll learn the basics of handling the ship or simply relax and soak in the stunning surroundings. Once docked in Tobermory, you’ll have time to explore this charming village, with its colorful houses and inviting local pubs.

Day 2: Puffins, Staffa & Historic Iona
Day two is packed with highlights! We begin by sailing to Lunga, the puffin capital of the Hebrides. Watching these delightful birds waddle, nest, and take flight is a truly magical experience and a favorite for many of our guests.

Next, we sail to Staffa, an island renowned for its dramatic basalt columns and mystical atmosphere. The echo of waves crashing against its cliffs is a sound you won’t forget. In the afternoon, we continue to Iona, where you’ll step back in time as you explore its historic abbey and serene surroundings.

Day 3: Discover Iona & Anchor in Mull’s Hidden Bay
Start your day with a guided visit to Iona Abbey, steeped in history and surrounded by tranquil beauty. After soaking up the spiritual ambiance, we set sail to a secluded bay on Mull’s south coast.

This bay, with its white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters, feels like a hidden gem. Relax on the beach, take a refreshing dip, or simply enjoy the peace of nature. As the day winds down, we’ll share a delicious meal on board while the sun sets over the island – a picture-perfect ending to the day.

Day 4: Return to Oban
On the final day, we set sail back to Oban. Enjoy a morning on the water, with time to reflect on the adventures of the past few days. You can lend a hand with the sails or simply let the rhythm of the waves carry you.

We’ll return to Oban by 3:00 PM, where we’ll bid farewell. You’ll leave with unforgettable memories, new friends, and perhaps even a desire to return for more.

Wildlife

Sailing with Steady promises amazing wildlife encounters. You’ll often see seabirds like puffins, razorbills and guillemots, while sea eagles soar majestically along the rugged coastline. On land, keep an eye out for red deer, and with a bit of luck, you might spot an otter in the bay. The seabird colonies, especially during the breeding season, create a cacophony of sounds that echo off the cliffs. As we sail through Scottish waters, you may also spot seals curiously poking their heads above the water or sunbathing on rocks.

Dolphins are frequent visitors, with common dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, and white-beaked dolphins often playing alongside the boat. Occasionally, we spot Risso’s or white-sided dolphins, and Minke whales are common. On rare days, you might even see humpback whales. The real stars of the show, however, are the local pod of orcas — an unforgettable experience if you’re lucky enough to see them. Make sure to keep your binoculars handy!
